Vegetableoil in the Pellet-feeding-system

Inlägg av libi »

Since i read about this idea in another pelletforum in May, i used to pour a small glass ( 2cl) of italian oliveoil
into the farest opening of my pellet-feeding-system every 2 weeks.
EDIT: RAPS Oil does freeze much later then olive oil. I use this now!

Since then, the feeding sound became much quieter and smoother.
I even can turn the screw with my hands when the motor is dismounted.

I wondered if it would harm any parts of the screw or pipe or the burnerbowl:
After this summer i didn´t recognize anything getting worse, but i found out, that the sawdust,
coming out of the hose at the end of the feeding system became less.
The dust got bound by the oil.
The pellets are transporting the oil through the pipe and leave
a thin oilfilm on the pipes walls.

I´d appreciate to receive some comments about your opinions about that!

Here are some new pics:

Hi,

I´ve seen this on the danish "pilleforum".
Last time i looked they even discussed which brand of oil was most suitable...
If it works, why not ? Olive does not oxidize in the same way as some other vegetable oils might do.
By the way, I think it works with greek oil too....

I have a friend who pours used engine oil over his pellets cause he´s to lazy to get it taken care of in a proper way.
Not to be recommended though, a massive amount of energy increase in random could cause damage to a sensitive burner due to overheating.

Kind Regards

I made a tip here in sep 2006 from the danish forum:
http://www.pellets.info/viewtopic.php?t=4734

Using oil on a conveyor system that operates under high torque seems to be a way out of a high torque condition. This is a lot better than installing large motors which twist the helix.
The best way, however, is to have a design that operates at very low torque.
